2 girls in Tunisia

Introduction,
I do not know if I would ever go there, Tunisia seemed to be so far away, but there was one event, that I really wanted to participate and I actually went there because of that. Ilies and Hela wedding :)
Me and Pawel we were invited already in Feb I think, so we were planning a trip for quite long time. In June, it occurs that Pawel is irreplaceable at work, so I went with Izabela.

First surprise - Tunisia is not far away, only 3 hours flight from Poznan. One hour to get to Hammamet, and ten minutes to go to the beach. We had accommodation in Hammamet- Jasminie, touristic district of Hammamet, only hotels there... and sandy beaches.

Visiting Tunisia
I noticed after one week that I used to talking to people on the street, I mean I was kind of angry sometimes, we were even rude from time to time, but in general always had good intention, smiling to us and try to get some good conversation. I was not afraid to talk , sometimes I was only tried.

Travelling
We were travelling with buses there, taxis (there is huge amount of them and they searching for customers. All taxi drivers we met were very nice. ) To Tunis we were taking few times this kind of taxi, for 7 people, that waits when it is full and then goes (pretty fast) to the capital. It was very good price and interesting experience. I felt very good in all of those and do not have bad memories.

Buying souvenirs
We were visiting many places (especially to find the proper water pipe for Pawel). We were in Hammamet Jasmine Medina, Old Hammamet Medina, twice in Tunis, and in Naboul.
It was really big challenge cause all the sellers were inviting us to their shops. Screaming to come in every possible language. It was kind of funny, when we passed by the shop they were calling us: Shakiraa, Shakirra, La gazelle, .... For me it was something new, but people there were really like asking you to come, talk, for minute, watch my shop, look what is there , and when only he noticed that you directed you eyes to some particular thing, they want to quickly sell it, even they pack it right away. If you are not really interested to by something, do not try to bargain. It is not worth, usually it really takes time to set up good price for both. After few times, when I really paid too much, I think that I was able to get good price, when both me and he was totally happy. Probably anyway he was even happier :)

Sahara
This was excellent trip, the only event organized by tourist agency we participated.

Comming back home
Kind of strange ... nobody talk to me on the street, I really used to do that.

The March is still cold in Scotland.

The excellent Valentine present from my fiancé, trip to Edinburgh started Friday, the 6th of March. The airport is very close the city centre, so we quite quickly found our very cosy „Dene guest house”. It was late and cold, much better to stay in nice warm place than sightseeing. The diner in Scottish restaurant „The Room in the town” was great option to taste regional food in very nice atmosphere. The late evening we desperately wanted to go to some real pub, no tourists, only Scots!

The city centre was definitely not an option. The waitress in the pub directed us to some place that was not so easy to find, somewhere on darker side of new town . We entered very crowded pub, people mostly at their forties. I felt really as a foreigner there, but after a while we found very nice companion there – Dave. Drinking beer and whisky we were discussing political problems of Europe :) Me and Pawel, we were both surprised of the Dave's knowledge about Poland and other central, and especially east Europe countries. We were talking a lot about history of our countries, about relation between them. It was really nice time there. Before midnight a girl came and she said to us that she is from South Africa, and she had asked taxi driver to bring her to the place with no tourists, to see real Scottish pub, and are we Scots? So later we were talking also about Africa, drink even more...

We spent whole Saturday visiting the Old Town, the Castle makes of course the biggest impression. It is situated on the huge rock, and there is only one side of the rock that is easy to reach the fortress. There is a main road to the castle on this side. On both sides there are old big houses, with lot of pubs and shops with souvenirs, I think that scarf, blankets with Scottish pattern and of course whiskey are most popular. People from whole the world work there, but definitely not Scots. I was using polish in many places in Edinburgh. We were attending free tour, three hours of walking through the Old Town, listening the stories about the capital of Scotland in heavy rain, wind and hail. Then we went to the castle, the view from there is amazing - Victorian city, then mountains and the see behind them. We spent evening at hostel, eating haggis and drinking hot tee and coffee, watching wicked link and some English tv serials ... with fever.

The idea for Sunday, trip by bus to Loch Ness, and mountains. The weather was not so bad this time, the guide occurs to be charming old man, who knew how to entertain us. He was driving , talking, showing us his homeland, talking about Highlanders for 12 hours.

I made of course many pictures. We came back to Poznan on Monday morning.
